The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) will hold its annual congress on Saturday at the new Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) Hall.
The GOC under the leadership of president Ben Nunoo Mensah has chalked some successes and faced a few challenges since they came into office in 2017 and all these matters would be addressed as well as the financial situation.
Also to be discussed are Ghana’s participation to the 12th African Games in Morocco, the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan and the 2023 African Games too be hosted in Ghana.
This year the GOC was able to organize the Olympic Day activities in Koforidua and it was also successful with the participation of secondary schools and Keep Fit Clubs.
Since coming into office the GOC has supported the sports federations financially and they made sure Ghana was represented at the first ever African Beach Games where Ghana won silver in beach volleyball and performed remarkably in free style football, karate do and basketball.
The GOC under Ben Nunoo Mensah wants to leave a legacy and have started the Amasaman OlympiAfrica project to build a mini sports complex for the youth.
