Ashantigold centre back Yusif Mubarik scored his second goal of the season to secure all three points in the first regional derby of the 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League on match day two.

Continuing their unbeaten run, the lone goal was enough to send Ashantigold back to their base victorious leaving King Faisal blank after two matches on their return to Ghana’s top flight.

The first regional derby started on equal strength with Ashantigold looking more likely to score with Mark Agyekum running down the right flank but with disappointing final ball decisions.

The hosts responded quickly with a beautiful burst of counter break as Osman Ibrahim got the better of Miners right back Kwadwo Amoako to deliver in a cut-back but Latif Mohammed blasted over the cross bar from 12 yards.

Ashantigold responded quickly in two minutes as Mark Agyekum was served with an accurate pass by James Akaminko. The forward hit from 28 yards but it ricocheted off the cross bar and off the goal line. There were shouts for goal by Ashantigold but referee Maxwell Hanson declined ball had crossed the line.

Frank Boateng dignified his number one spot ahead of experienced Robert Dabuo as he parried over the bar a RazakToufiq’s hit which headed for the top-right corner-Ashgoldwasted the resultant corner kick.

The final minute of the opening half was greeted with applause for King Faisal goalkeeper and captain Alexander Domfeh as he tipped over Shafiu Mumuni’s header from an Amos Addai cross to keep scores barren.

The second period lacked any promise from both teams until the 70th minute when Faisal goalkeeper Alexander Osei Domfeh was shown his marching orders after a second yellow card for handling the ball outside the box. The resultant kick was beautifully slot beyond substitute goalkeeper KaisanYuisu who had just spent seconds in the post.

King Faisal pushed for the equaliser but could only come close in the 77th minute when Man of the match Kwame Peprah had his direct shot saved by Frank Boateng for a corner kick.

This result puts the Miners with six points and a plus of four goals from two games whiles the Kumasi based green and whites languish at the base of the league log with zero points and a minus of four goals
