The long wait for Manchester City’s victory against Liverpool at Anfield was handed to the visitor on a silver plater by some fundamental goalkeeping errors.

Manchester City as have been chasing to win the English Premier League had current title holders Liverpool FC to contend as they have played some impressive football prior to the resumption of the league.

Recording major injuries to their squad and having to reply on his experienced players to play out of position to fill the defensive gaps, Jurgen Klopp has had lots to say about Manchester City but none of those got to Pep Guardiola who had two objectives ahead of the fixture, firstly to break their long record of winless run at Anfield as well as extend their lead on the league log with a game in hand.

The opening minutes of the game was tactical and slow with a balanced possession until Fabinho tripped tricky Raheem Sterling for the visitors to be awarded a penalty. Ikay Gundogan took responsibility of the spot kick but lofted over the post.

A relief on Klopp’s face explained it all. Both teams returned to the second half with much energy but Manchester City took the edge as Ikay Gundogan pounced on a loose ball parried into his path by Alisson Becker.

Diaz who has solidified the defensive line for Pep Guardiola in the 62’ missed his footing as his attempt to clear a ball went abegging causing the Portuguese to hold back pacey Mohammed Salah who was right behind him to be awarded a penalty.

Salah took to the spot and converted expertly to bring his side on level pegging. With all seemingly okay for Klopp and his men, Alisson Becker the trusted shot stopper for Liverpool FC gave away two chances that resulted in two goal. Raheem Sterling finally scored against Liverpool at Anfield after parting ways with the club as Bernado Silva followed up a lose ball by Alisson Becker and lifted it to his teammate for an easy score.

Phil Foden who had been magnificent to the Manchester City setup added the fourth in the 83’ as Liverpool were left to wobble in their defeat.
