Former Ghana Black Queens player and current Coach of the Ghana Black Queens Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo after been backed with regards to her player selection for the AWCON qualifiers has come to make supporters understand they are working tirelessly to ensure qualification to the competition.
After successfully leading the Black Queens in February 2018, to win the maiden edition of the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire as an interim coach. Coach Tagoe-Quarcoo became the first female coach to serve as an interim coach to the Black Queens.
Soon after her heroics, she was given the role as a full time manager of the Black Queens which many have doubted her competence.
In their AWCON qualifier fixture against the Super Falcons in Nigeria, many bashed the leadership of the team for poor preparation and team selection, with many calling for players plying their trade in Europe to bring competition into the team.
The Ghana Black Queens in their fixture against Super Falcons of Nigeria lost by 2-0 with their return encounter slated for Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Many followers of the Black Queens were not happy about the performance of the team following their previous form and dominance over years.
With the criticisms getting intense, Coach Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo reiterated; “I am very proud of the team and the spirit they exhibited on the field of play. Although we lost by 2-0, the team played far better than our ark rivals. We have a return encounter and we will make sure we do the needful to make Ghana proud.”
Many have still called for the Black Queens gaffer to be expelled from her position as she seems to be in the pocket of the GFA which is influencing her choice of players selection.
