The Super Clash in the Ghana Premier League between Glorious Accra Hearts of Oak and Krobea Kumasi Asante Kotoko has always left doors open for individuals or syndicates to perpetrate their selfish and illegal means of acquiring and selling tickets over the years.
After the COVID-19 restrictions and stadiums not been able to admit to full capacity, these irregularities were contained.
On Sunday when the two dominant giants met at the Accra Sports Stadium, these fake hawkers saw the opportunity presented them after a late call from the leadership of the National Sports Authority for the stadium to admit to full capacity.
With over 48hrs to kick-off, announcements were made by the hosting club detailing how tickets would be sold at the gates on match day and that gave room for error as the pressure of over 30,000 people at the gate could not be in check.
Good news reaching airwaves is that, after the Super Clash between Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, a fake ticket seller was arrested.
In the first paragraph of a release from Accra Hearts of Oak, it reads,
“The Management of Accra Hearts of Oak, in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service, on Sunday, 20th February 2022 effected the arrest of a man at the Accra Sports Stadium who was selling fake match tickets for the Super Clash between Hearts and Kotoko.”
The Ghana Police Service has been commended for acting swiftly and in collaboration with the management team of Accra Hearts of Oak to ensure the culprit faces justice.
