African referees have over the years been painted bad to the public following some decisions and conflicting news that surrounds their profession. With many tagged with bribery scandals and others over favoritism on the field of play.
Referee Daniel Laryea has over the years revered as one of the best Ghanaian referees and his works in Ghana and on the African continent has sold him to CAF and many who have actually had time to watch the product of Accra Academy in action.
His discipline on and off the field has seen Daniel Laryea handle matches of great tension and has still delivered without compromising.
The TotalEnergies AFCON 2022 Cameroon will host a list of African countries yet again to battle for glory in who is the best when it comes to football in Africa.
Officiating which is a very vital part of the sports has been given great criticisms over the years and this has made CAF take its time to scrutinize its selection based on the performance of each centreman before the games in January.
Referee Daniel Laryea after a careful assessment by CAF has been named as one of the referees and the only Ghanaian referee to officiate at the AFCON tournament.
This has not gone down well with some Ghanaians who have hit the internet to disclose their displeasure discounting the hard work of the Ghanaian referee.
“I know I have worked hard and that lead to my callup by CAF to represent Ghana as the only Ghanaian referee at the AFCON tournament in Cameroon. It is obvious not everyone will be happy with you on the field but that does not change the fact that doing the right thing will be noticed by the right persons. CAF has noticed my work on the field and I am happy to be given yet another opportunity to exhibit free and fair officiating.” said Daniel Laryea.
Referee Daniel Laryea has officiated high profile matches in the Ghana premier league including the crunch between Accra Hearts of Oak and Krobea Kumasi Asante Kotoko among others so he is not new to the terrain.
