Eight-time Olympic medalist, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce could face American track and field sprinter – Sha’Carri Richardson at the World Continental Tour Gold Kip Kieno Classic at the Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya on May 7.

Fraser-Pryce, undoubtedly one of the most decorated athletes in the history of the World Athletics Championships having won ten gold [including one indoor title] and two silver confirmed her participation on social media yesterday.

“One of the most asked questions on the page [Facebook] has been “when are you visiting Kenya? Kenyan fans, how does May sound? See you in Nairobi,” said Fraser-Pryce.

Namibia’s Christine Mboma, the Tokyo Olympic 200m silver medalist and Shericka Jackson of Jamaica are also down to compete at the Kip Keino Classic.

Fraser-Pryce, a dominant force in women’s sprinting has won more global 100m titles than any other female sprinter in history. She is the only person to win four world titles in the 100 m—in 2009, 2013, 2015 and 2019.

In April 2021, Richardson ran a new personal best of 10.72 seconds, becoming the sixth fastest woman of all time and the fourth fastest American woman in history.
