As the President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) and the Commonwealth Sports, Ghana (CSG), it is with immense pride and gratitude that I bring greetings to the Ghanaian sporting community on the cusp of a New Year.

The year 2025 has drawn to a close, and as we reflect on the journey, we can collectively celebrate a period marked by significant strides and memorable achievements across the breadth of our national sports landscape. From the tireless work of our National Federations to the inspiring performances of our young athletes on the global stage, we have once again proven the indomitable spirit of Ghana.

The past year saw our athletes compete with distinction, raising the profile of Ghanaian sports in various international competitions. Notably, we celebrate the remarkable success of Team Ghana at both the 1st Africa School Games and the African Youth Games, where our young talents brought home a commendable tally of medals. Individual federations also through various continental and global champiobships, excelled making Ghana proud. I salute the dedication, sacrifice, and rigorous training undertaken by every athlete, coach, and support staff.

We also recognise the crucial role played by our National Federations, whose operational capacity and resilience were strongly supported by the GOC throughout 2025. This support in funding of competitions, payment of affiliation fees, and technical guidance is a deliberate strategy that drives the engine of Ghanaian sports.

Looking ahead, a pivotal moment for the future trajectory of Ghanaian sports is fast approaching: the official launch of the GOC’s new four-year Strategy Plan in the coming days. This plan is not merely a document; it is a meticulously crafted roadmap designed to professionalize our structures, enhance governance, and ultimately, ensure sustainable success. It represents a unified vision agreed upon by all stakeholders to elevate every aspect of our operations to positioning Ghana as a sporting powerhouse in Africa and beyond.

We will be deliberate and conscious on our athlete development and women empowerment programs. We firmly believe that our athletes are the heart of the Olympic movement, and we are committed to providing them with the necessary resources and support to thrive both on and off the field of play.

As we bid farewell to the triumphs of the past year, we turn our gaze to 2026 with an overwhelming sense of hope and resolve. This is the year where the seeds we have been planting, and those we are about to sow with the launch of our Strategy Plan, will begin to bear visible fruit.

Our promise is simple yet profound: to continue championing our athletes, to aggressively pursue the goals outlined in our plan, and to strive for even greater success at the upcoming major international multi-sport events as the Youth Olympics and the Commonwealth Games.

The GOC is fully dedicated to fostering an environment where every Ghanaian athlete can realize their full potential and bring glory to the nation.

The GOC is eternally grateful to the Ministry of Sports & Recreation and the Minister, the GOC Board members and the entire Ghanaian media for the massive collaboration and counsel.

I wish everyone a safe, prosperous, and successful New Year. May Team Ghana shine brighter than ever before!
