After their first encounter in Mauritania ended in a draw, Nouadhibou FC had to do the needful to fly to Ghana for a return fixture.
The visitors arrived in the Capital of Ghana, Accra on the 3rd of December 2020 to continue their preparations towards their return encounter which was scheduled for the 5th of December 2020.
On the said day of the match, there was some delays from the side of the visitors as they did not come out to the pitch to warm up as did they come out for proceeding to start.
It was later communicated to the officials by the medical teams responsible for ensuring all players involved in the game are free of the COVID-19.
Unfortunately, two players of Nouadhibou FC had tested positive to the COVID-19 after their test results at the Accra Sports Stadium. The match after a while was called off to allow further testing. One Kotoko player was also confirmed to have tested positive to the virus.
The second leg fixture was now finally postpones to Sunday, 6th December 2020 at the same venue following an announcement by the governing body CAF.
As the day drew closer, many sports pundits and supporters questioned the decision of CAF to postpone the game but it was in the right direction and for fair play.
on the 6th of December 2020 while journalist made way to the stadium to cover the beautiful game, they were met with a rather unfortunate new. The players of Krobea Kumasi Asante Kotoko were ready with the match officials on the pitch but the visiting team were not forthcoming.
After numerous efforts to get the players of Nouadhibou FC to report to the pitch, none was successful and had to adjudge Kumasi Asante Kotoko winner by 2 goals ensuring they sail to the next round of the competition.
in disarray, the Nouadhibou players and management flew the stadium in anger and reiterated CAF could have made provisions for such occurrences. None of the home team nor supporters say their claim laudable as they had the chance to bring 18 to 23 players of which can be replaced.
