Real Madrid have proved yet again that they are the Kings of Madrid derby after going eleven (11) derbies unbeaten.
The Los Blancos have improved their game and this has been evident in their local and international outing. It has always been a crunch when playing against Atletico Madrid but the league leaders showed yet again why they deserve to be at the top of the league.
Karim Benzema was part of the Real Madrid squad after returning from injury as was the sensational Vinicious Jnr.
The game started with everything going as planned for the Los Blancos and the lens was once again on Vini who proved to be a thorn in the flesh of the visitors.
With the current form of Real Madrid, it took the league leaders 16 minutes into the first half to breach the defense and goal of Atletico Madrid.
Karim Benzema who has been scoring before going to nurse his injury returned with his goal scoring boots after another sensational run from Vinicious Jnr. to give Real Madrid the opener against their neighbors.
Diego Simone and his men were scattered all over the pitch with Real Madrid in total control. Real Madrid held a high defensive line and counted on the pace of Vini and the support from Benzema and Marco Asensio leading the line.
The first half ended with Real Madrid holding on to their slim lead but did not look like they were going to give it up as well.
Swiftly after the second half began, Real Madrid took control of the game again and gave Atletico Madrid a hard time on all sections of the field. 36 years old Luka Modric did not make it any easier for the visitors with his masterclass in the heart of the field.
With Vinicious Jnr. as the provider, Marco Asensio gave Real Madrid their second goal which was enough to see them pick all three point and also extend their lead on the league log.
Atletico Madrid came into the game with about ten (10) minutes to full time but could utilize their chances.
The game ended 2-0 as Atletico Madrid left without a consolation.
