The IBSA Goal Ball Africa Championship came to a successful end yesterday,10th December 2021 at the University of Cape Coast Gymnasium.
Preceding the closing ceremony was the final set of games in which the Ghana female team lost 5-12 to Egypt with the Ghana men team losing 11-12 to the team from Cameroon. Also in the final games of the Championship, the Algerians teams; males and females beat their Egyptian counterpart to lift Men’s and Women’s trophies respectively.
As it stand, both the Ghanaian teams missed out in qualifying for the IBSA World Goal Ball Championship slated to be held in China come 2023 but saw the North African teams; both males and females teams securing qualification to China.
In delivering the closing remarks, the President of Ghana Blind Sports Association applauded all teams for their undying commitment and devotion in making this Tournament a success and congratulated the winning teams. He indicated that the 2023 Goal Ball Africa Championship will also be held in Ghana.
Mr. Alexander Tieku, the Acting Regional Director for the National Sports Authority, who represented the Director General gave the vote of thanks and further wished all the teams, the best in their future endeavors.
Nana George Frimpong, the President for Ghana Federation of Disability Organisation, Mr. Eric Kiss, President for Ghana Blind Sports Association were presented during the closing ceremony among section of the public.
