On the exact date of the 100 years birthday of the Danish Sports Journalists Association, March 11, the first woman to take care of the finances in the national organization was elected.
Bettina Schjølie, age 58, and a freelance sports journalist, has replaced Flemming Olesen in the board, and will now act as treasurer, a job she is well equipped to take care of due to her education inside financial circumstances, besides being a journalist.
Flemming Olesen, member of the Financial Commission in AIPS since 2014, stepped down after 23 years on the board of the Danish SJA, the latest 22 of them as treasurer. He has now left the board, but will, in a period, assist the new treasurer, because a lot of economy is involved in the coming months, due to celebration of the 100 years existence of the association.
March 11. was chosen as the day for the annual assembly, and at the same time an informal reception for the birthday took place in Copenhagen.
Now the members can look forward to a celebration of the 100 years existence in June, when a weekend-arrangement on the island of Fyn in the middle of Denmark will be held, with a lot of activities, practical sport, discussions, lecture, entertainment and a dinner.
Another issue, celebrating the centennial birthday-year, is publishing a book with the title: “100 years – 100 stories”.
100 of the association’s members have contributed a special story from their career as either sports journalists or sports photographers, and it looks to be a very interesting book, showing the diversity of our profession, with a lot of entertaining stories, and some exceptionally good photos.
A very special story is part of the book – a story, written by the founder and the very first president of the Danish SJA back in 1922.
The book is planned to be released in June, when the big party takes place.
The replacement of Flemming Olesen in the board was the only change that took place at the annual assembly. It is still Jimmy Bøjgaard, who is the president, while Martin Davidsen acts as secretary general.
