The England EFL Cup has seen many premiership sides bully the championship teams in their fixtures but Brentford sort to prove a point as they took on Newcastle United at the Brentford Community Stadium.
Newcaste United who did not hold back, featured all its regular players including Jonjo Shelvey their skipper but that was not enough to secure them progress in the competition.
With majority of possession, one would have concluded Newcastle United would carry the day but Brentford went all out, defended solidly as a team and ensured the first half ended without conceding a goal.
The beginning of the second half was rather cagey and tactical as the championship club started to explore on the little mistakes of Newcastle United. Their persistence paid of in the 66’ as Joshua Dasilva netted the only goal for the day.
With both sides equaling the number of shots on target, Brentford was more clinical as they were able to convert from their effort.
