“We have been monitoring the competition landscape over several months as well as liaising with the PSA regarding potential dates to relaunch PSL at a time when it is safe to do so for players, officials & spectators,” said England Squash Competitions & Commercial Manager Paul Walters.
“We are confident that the proposed format, which has been developed in consultation with the participating teams, will help address the unique challenges that we continue to face as well as provide an invaluable opportunity to better align the PSL with the wider objectives of England Squash and its recently unveiled strategy.
“The PSL Cup will provide invaluable competition for British players as well as increased exposure for the sport through our collaboration with SQUASHTV and will act as a pilot for the 2022/23 season, when it is hoped we will be able to return to a more comprehensive ‘season-long’ format.
“We are very appreciative of the support provided by established PSL teams Pontefract Squash Club, Alba Storm and the University of Nottingham, as well as newcomers Crawley Squash Club and Loughborough University who are welcome additions to an eagerly anticipated format.”
