The Ghana Police Service were not so bossy on the basket court as they have been resolute in executing their policing duties in the country after they got beaten fair and square by the University of Education-Winneba.

The promising tournament which brought many basketball lovers to the court has enough to talk about as the hosts had to dig deep to over turn their deficit in the first two quarters.

Ghana Police Service got mixed fortunes competing against University of Education-Winneba (UEW) at the UCC Wildcats Invitational Basketball Tournament.

In the Men’s Division, Police succumb to a dramatic 32-33 loss after double overtime while in the Women’s Division, Police rarely upped the ante as the team cruised to a 35-10 win over UEW.

Having played and looking favourites to win, the Ghana Police Team with many opportunities to win the game failed to net as did their hosts in regular time, with both teams getting free throws, no one would have thought either teams will miss their chance in crucial minutes of the very competitive game.

On the other hand, the Police’s Women’s team washed their opponents off to register its first win against the young UEW team. With happiness and cheers from the Police women’s team, they could only celebrate picking their first victory in the tournament after losing by 2points to host UCC.

The reigning Accra Basketball League Female Division Champions are gearing up for the start of the 2022 Season; Police has a chance to win its third league title in a row should the team triumph in the upcoming season. The league tips off on Tuesday, March 8 at the Prisons Court in Cantonments.
