The 2021-2022 season of Togo’s national first division women’s football championship will finally kickoff on May 14. The announcement was made by the Togolese Football Federation.
Delayed due to difficulties for clubs to register in the FTF TOGO CONNECT system, a platform for recording and managing football players, the new season of the women’s football championship will finally start. 12 clubs divided into two groups of 6 will take part to the competition.
In Group A, we find the defending champions Athleta FC, Believer FC, Tempête FC, Amis du Monde FC, Winner Girls and Ahe FC. Group B includes Djabir FC, Gazelle FC, US Amou, Etoile Feminine, Djarra FC, Bellaa FC.
At the end of the regular phase (championship in the groups), the first two of each group will compete for the title of the national championship through play offs in 6 matches.
In addition, this launch of the new season of the women’s football championship in Togo comes at the right time for the women’s national team qualified for the first time for the TotalEnergies Women’s AFCON Morocco 2022 (July 2-23, 2022). The team led by Kaï Tomety relies mainly on players of local championship. In the Cherifian Kingdom, the Sparrowhawks Ladies will play in group B alongside Cameroon, Zambia and Tunisia.
