Considering the global pandemic and its impacts, some IOC Members will take part in the IOC Session remotely and for others some travel arrangements had to be re-organized. In order to address this situation and to streamline the institutional meetings in Beijing, it was decided to reduce the duration of these meetings. The revised schedule therefore is:

  • IOC Executive Board meeting: 2 February 2022 at the InterContinental Beijing Beichen Hotel (OFH)
  • 139th IOC Session: 3 and 19 February 2022 at the China National Convention Centre (CNCC)

The agendas will be sent in advance of the meetings.

MEDIA ACCESS

IOC Executive Board meeting

Per standard practice, the IOC Executive Board (EB) meeting is closed to the media. It will serve as preparation for the IOC Session only. No press conference is planned afterwards.

IOC Session

The proceedings of the 139th IOC Session will be available via closed circuit TV at the Main Press Centre (MPC) as well as on the IOC Media YouTube channel.

Due to the COVID-19 countermeasures, there will be no working area in the China National Convention Centre. Media representatives are therefore encouraged to work at the MPC. Owing to the restrictions, and in accordance with the Playbook rules, the IOC Session will also be closed to ENG cameras and photographers. A very small pool will be arranged by the IOC.

The press conference following the first part of the IOC Session will take place on 3 February at 19:00 CST in the MPC. Media representatives who will not be in Beijing will be able to watch the press conference live on YouTube.

NB: Due to the decision to shorten the meetings, the 139th IOC Session will conclude at a date to be established later in the year to allow for all topics to be addressed.
Additional useful information

Please note that no permanent guest passes will be made available to media representatives for the OFH. This is due to restrictions on the numbers of people who can enter the hotel in order to minimize physical interaction and enable adequate physical distancing in compliance with the Beijing 2022 Playbooks.

The News Access Rules for Beijing 2022 have been updated and can be found here. If you have any additional questions related to the News Access Rules, please contact newsaccessrules@olympic.org.

These Guidelines provide guidance to bona fide media organisations that wish to use the Olympic Properties in relation to their editorial news reporting on the Olympic Games.

The Playbooks are the basis of our game plan to ensure the safety of all Olympic and Paralympic Games participants and the people of China.
