WBO middleweight Demetrius Andrade told everyone that an explosive performance was coming. Andrade delivered on his promise demolishing Jason Quigley in less than two rounds at SNHU Arena in Manchester, NH Friday night.

Andrade [31-0, 19 KOs] and Quigley spent the early portion of the opening stanza pawing and waiting. Quigley fired a body shot which triggered a follow-up right hand from southpaw Andrade. The blow landed perfectly and stunned Quigley. He backpaddled as Andrade pursued. A barrage of blows punctuated by another right-hand crumbled Quigley [19-2, 14 KOs] near the ropes. Quigley got up with a stunned look on his face. He stayed away and survived the rest of the round.

In some of his previous fights, Andrade has taken his foot off the pedal after knocking down an opponent early. Not this time. He stalked and rocked – landing a perfectly timed left hand that floored Quigley for the second time. The Irishman got up and tried to regroup, but it was he was overmatched. Andrade chased after the stunned Quigley raining down blows until he went down again. Referee Arthur Mercante Jr. waved the fight off.

Time was 2:24 into round two. Impressive as his victory was, the fact that Andrade was fighting someone of Quigley’s elk was silly. Gutsy yes…

Typical WBO decision-making.

“I did what I said I would do, I looked good and felt good,” said Andrade. “I delivered a message tonight – what’s next and who’s next?

“Every time I get in the ring, I do something different, and I can do it all and whatever I need. So many times, you see people get knocked down and then they knock the other guy down. So, I keep patient in there and wait for the shots to land. But you asked for KOs, and I give you KOs, so let’s go.

“I’m 31-0, Olympian and World champion, so what more do I need to do?”

How about fight Jermall Charlo?
