The Ghana Black Stars after been drawn with Sudan generated lost of controversy following the Sudanese national team coach holding an Exo position in the Ghana Football Association and CAF calling his to order amidst others.
A video circulating on social media saw the president of GFA ranting and acting as if Ghana is the only nation that goes into competitions to win. Ghana drew against Niger in the AFCON qualifier and that was his topic of discussion sighting the current Ghanaian players lack passion and pride playing for the national team and making unsung comparison with the old team.
With many calling him out for his gesture during such dire time, many also supported his action and believed it will encourage the team to perform miracles over night.
There are a lot of thigs missing in his assumption of ranting to get results as every national team competing in the qualifiers are putting in the effort and training to qualify. Niger drew with Ghana and the president of the association assumed it was unacceptable but has he wondered the kind of work the Niger team put in their preparations towards the game?
Ghana has been lacking in various aspects including infrastructure and desire to play. CAF had to force the national association to have a pitch in good standing before they would be allowed to host any game and this same association leader expected a miraculous win.
Sudan who had a better record coming into this game against Ghana were rather subtle with three win and a lose, it rather impressive and they would on any day want to keep that form.
Samuel Eto’o, called out his team after a 1-0 win over Burundi and come football stakeholders called him out for the outburst but the former player has done better and only expected better from his team ensuring they have what it takes to get to where their supporters expect.
Back to Edwin Simon Kurt Okraku whose rants suggested Ghana was now a formidable team that can beat the likes of Argentina and Spain knew little about the expectations of Sudan who have been putting up impressive performances since they appointed former Ghana Blacks stars gaffer Mr. James Kwesi Appiah.
The game that many saw would see the Black Stars winning by seven goals was far from happening. Sudan came to Ghana with a plan and they stack to it until the final whistle.
Ghana was held to a goalless draw at home by Sudan after 90 minutes and continue their depreciating run in the qualifiers. Ghana has managed to pick two (2) points after three games with Sudan on four (4) points. Angola sit comfortably on top of the group with six points and a game in hand.
The road to AFCON glory and the ultimate seems shaky for the Black Stars while other teams are working hard to ensure they secure a place.
