Patrick Allotey after his last fight for the vacant WBO Africa Super Welterweight win over Hamisi Maya at the Idrowhyt Event Centre, Dansoman, Accra on the 26th pf March, 2022 stayed out of the ring until a chance came for him to battle for another title in the United States of America.
Allotey who made his way to the United States of America to start his camp for his fight for the WBC Continental Americas Super Welter against Serhii Bohachuk at the Chumash Casino, Santa Ynez got the attention of boxing lovers across Ghana including his personal fans who have been waiting to see the champ clinch another title.
Ghana boxing lovers rallied behind Allotey as he prepared for the fight and continued to support him during his fight. The anticipation did not yield its expectation as what many Ghanaians and boxing lovers expected never materialized.
The fight which was scheduled for 12 rounds only lasted the fight as Patrick Allotey was knocked out and counted out by referee ack Reiss.
As many felt disappointed including Allotey himself, the boxer took to his social media handle to explain that he tried to get up and continue the fight but the referee stopped it.
Many boxing followers understood the decision of the referee as it is part of his duty to protect every boxer in the ring should he see the need to and referee Jack Reiss in this case saw Allotey in trouble and had to protect him.
“Hey fans, I fought yesterday and sorry for the bad news. I was knocked down in the first round. I tried to get up to continue but the referee stopped the fight. Thanks to you all for the love and the support. We will be back next time.” said Allotey.
With many boxing lovers and fans expecting more from the Allotey, his promise to get back soon is what they are holding on to. Other information about his future fighting in the State of California in the United States of America will be communicated with our cherished readers in due time.
