The West African Football Academy has always proven beyond reasonable doubt no team is better that them when it comes to giving the fans a feast of display.
WAFA has gradually made their home ground a fortress and defended their pride when it comes to the Ghana Premier League and other competitions.
With their consistent play, WAFA has always had the upper hand over majority of the GPL clubs and their display against such big teams has proven equally.
In the GPL Week-9 fixtures, WAFA welcomes Kumasi Asante Kotoko to the Sogakope park where they have not shown mercy to any side that troops there.
In the early minutes of the game, the visitor looked jittery as they were disorganized from midfield to attack. WAFA took their chance and scored the first goal for the day in the 29’. Daniel Lomotey who is currently the leading goal scorer of the GPL was the one who found the back of the net for WAFA.
The score line remains same through half time and many started to fear Kotoko would be in for a lashing as WAFA has previously been dashing to GPL opponents.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko came back into the second half more composed and with direction as they began to threaten the goal area of WAFA. They started to record some shoots on target as WAFA began to waste more chances in the face of goal.
In the 63’, Kwame Poku the savior of Kumasi Asante Kotoko on numerous occasions did same after equalizing for Kotoko. With the name WAFA has made for themselves, some fans of Kotoko were happy and wishing for the final whistle as they preferred the draw than for their team to push for the win.
At the end of the whistle, Kotoko and WAFA shared the spoils with WAFA on the 6th position on the league log and Kotoko on the 7th with a game in hand for the latter.
