Richard Commey after his ban with the Ghana Boxing Authority was lifted has continued to train as his promoters worked around the clock to ensure the former World Lightweight Champion get back in the ring.
Richard Commey after the long wait will be mounting the ring at the Madison Square Garden in New York on the 11thh of December 2021 against Vasily Lomachenko. The two boxers who have kept their pace in the game with an aim of fighting for the ultimate.
Both Vasily and Richard Commey lost to Teofimo Lopez as Teo refused Vasily a rematch. Now the title which hangs around the waist of George Kambosos Jnr. will be along hurdle for the two boxers.
Ahead of the fight, the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has send a goodwill message to Richard Commey and the former champions in response after receiving the letter said,
“I want to thank the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) and all its members for its kind words of support. It means a lot to me to know that the people of Ghana are behind me and I will do my very best to make you all proud. God Bless You All”.
Portions of the letter reads,
“The GBA is highly optimistic that Richard Commey will successfully win this fight which will be one step closer to becoming a two time world champion and continue this steady rise towards winning many more success in the ring.
The GBA President, Abraham Kotei Neequaye, the GBA Executive Board Members, the Ghana Boxing Supporters Union and all well-wishers of the boxing fraternity with Richard Commey the very best in this crucial bout.”
