The National Sports Authority Director, Pro. Peter O. Twumasi’s name has been in the media domain for unpleasant reasons to football lovers and teams after discovering his previous comment of the renovation of Accra Sports Stadium.
After been called out following pictorial evidence of the dilapidated state of the Essipong Stadium which was communicated to the media that its renovation works is 90% completed, the NSA has again got the media talking.
The Director, Pro. Twumasi through a communique to the Ghana Football Association and to the media suggested that NSA needed two weeks to carry out renovation works at the Accra Sports Stadium and this directive saw GPL matches postponed until after the said date.
With many initially suggesting it was a way to help struggling Accra Hearts of Oak gain more time to train after returning from their CAF CC encounter in Algeria, the media have now found contradicting information which they have not taken lightly and has requested the audience of the NSA Director with respect to what is going on.
The Stadium which is supposed to be closed on the 17th of December 2021 in the supposed renovations scandal will be hosting a concert at full capacity with another on the 25th of December 2021.
With many asking for the NSA boss to explain the happenings, many are also concerned why the same stadia which is disallowed to admit supporters to full capacity will be accommodating a full house during the concert.
Some of the questions asked and awaiting answers from the outfit of the NSA are below;
- Is the concert more important than football?
- Was the renovation communique a deliberate lie to make space to host the concert?
- Will the stadiums be allowed to admit to full capacity after the concert?
- Will there be any renovation at all at the stadium?
- Why is the NSA not putting to media domain what is actually going on?
As many are eager to find answers to why football has been put to the bench, many have continued to knock at the door of the NSA for clarifications.
