The President of the Republic of Ghana H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akkfo-Addo after the cry of Ghana Premier league clubs in Ghana following their inability to allow supporters to the pitch had various meetings with the Sports Minister, Hon. Isaac Asiamah over how to address the issue.
Shortly after, there was news over social media of a huge sum allocated to the sports ministry to be handed over to the Ghana Football Association and its leadership to ensure they distribute it to the respective club.
The President, Nana Addo released a cheque worth Ghc1,000,000 to be shared to the 18 clubs currently participating in the Ghana Premier League.
With a speculated amount of Ghc50,000 to be received by the clubs, it will go a long way to help curb some of their financial burdens as well as management.
Not long after the announced pledge to support the GPL clubs, the Hon. Asiamah presented a cheque to the GFA to the same tune as stated on the letter and has since received accolades from the 18 clubs and the GFA with a promise to extend the gesture to the women league as well as lower divisions too.
