League leaders Karela United have had a smooth home run in the Ghana Premier League since its resumption with a what was almost a perfect home unbeaten record.
As their GPL match week-13 scheduled against Krobea Kumasi Asante Kotoko, many assumed the home team will slay the visitors as they have done others in their previous meeting but Kotoko had other plans.
With a study opening minutes from both sides, Kumasi Asante Kotoko looked more determined to break the home winning streak Karela were building and pick maximum points in the fixture.
Fabio Gama gradually getting his stride and adopting to the Ghana Premier league again produced another wonderful performance with some chances going abegging.
In the 36’ on the first half, Kumasi Asante Kotoko started pressing and knocking on the doors of Karela United and it paid off as Ibrahim Imoro converted the first goal for the visitor.
The second hand began with much more urgency from the home team at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park but were still not clinical in front of the opposition goal.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko took charge of the game with absolute control in the midfield leaving little space for Karela to operate.
Kotoko found their second in the 61’ as Kwame Opoku slapped his shot into the next. The porcupine warriors were in cruise control now with maximum points assured as well as ending the unbeaten home run of Karela United.
At the end of proceedings, Karela United at their fortress could not savage a consolation as Kumasi Asante Kotoko joyed out of Abrankese with a famous victory.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko has now risen to the top of the GPL table with 23 points after 13 games as Karala United sit second on the log.
