Mr. George Lamptey wouldn’t have love to be witnessing this day following a glorious crowning at the MTN SWAG AWARDS night.
The Ghana Boxing Federation has been in-charge of amateur boxing in Ghana and Mr. George Lamptey was at the helm of affair when the amateur boxing team made and broke a long standing olympic medal drought for Ghana at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games.
Mr. George Lamptey was nominated alongside Mrs. Evelyn Nsiah among other for the category of SWAG Sports Administrator of the year and on the night, the GBF President whose coach and boxer got crowned won the award.
Winning the award on the SWAG night was on of his least concerns as he yearned to put the cherry on top of the award by ensuring his works will get him re-elected as the GBF present with the elections scheduled for the next day.
Today at the Bukom Boxing Emporium, with all delegates seated and votes sorted, Mr. George Lamptey who saw to Ghana’s win at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games as the GBF President has been ousted for a new president.
After the elections, Mr. George Lamptey managed 45 votes as Mr. Bernard Quartey pulled a surprise 59 votes to be declared president elect of the federation.
Mr. Dauda Fuseini won the ballots with 63 votes to win the ‘1st Vice President’ over Abdul Rasheed Williams (17 votes) and Mohammed Abdul Samadu (23).
Mr. Solomon Otoo Lartey vied for the ‘2nd Vice President’ position as the only candidate as did one of Ghana’s best ring announcers Mr. Mustapha Nettey vying for the Treasurer position.
