Jesse Lingard was wasting off at Manchester United bench as his lost favour with current manager Ole Gunner Solskjær. The English national who had been struggling with injury has had little time to prove his worth under new manager as he hasn’t been given enough playing time and sort to move out to find himself.
In the brink of events, West Ham United made a swooping move for ousted Manchester United baller Jesse on loan until the end of the season and it surely paid off on his debut.
Jesse has been hungry to play and his first opportunity on the pitch for West Ham United showed he has conditioned himself for the challenges. His adopting to their style of play was very easy as he has played against them in the English Premier league and was given free room to operate.
West Ham United went away to Aston Villa, one of the transformed teams of the season who have been on fire and rocking toe to toe with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United.
Aston Villa though seen as favourites had no effect on the performance of West Ham United as they came into the game with a plan and executed it to perfection.
The Villa Park rather became the playground of the visitors as Aston Villa were outplayed at their own game. The two teams sized themselves out in the first half with both managers playing cautiously not to conceive but after the break, David Moyes had the better of Dean Smith as his side started to explore Aston Villa in open spaces.
The return of the second half saw West Ham execute their plan to perfection as it too the Hammers 6’ to get the opener against Aston Villa. The best surprise of the game enclaved when Jesse Lingard connected to a pass from Antonio and smashed it past Emiliano Martinez who could not stop the ball from getting behind him.
The Hammers turn on their game as they started to defend as a team and attack with precision, fatigue in their defensive line saw a breach as Ollie Watkins lashed on a sweet pass from Jack Grealish to pull one back for the home team.
It was game on for Aston Villa as they started to push more men forward in their bid to find an equalizer. It certainly was a night for Antonio and Lingard as the pair worked out another brilliance which was powered beyond Martinez for Lingard’s second for the night.
With Lingard recording a brace on his debut, his confidence and self esteem is sure on the rise and will surely be ready for the next challenge.
