Nigeria striker Asisat Oshoala has won her third consecutive Spanish Primera Iberdrola title with Barcelona following her side’s 5-0 triumph over Real Madrid.

Oshoala, who is recovering from a recent thigh injury was left out of the squad at the Estadi Johan Cruyff but her fine scoring form played a huge role in Jonatan Giraldez’s success.

Her 19 goals in 16 matches were instrumental in the Blaugranes’ clinching of the 2021-22 Spanish Primera Iberdrola crown for a record seventh time, with six games to spare.

This time, CAFOnline.com, compiles a list of the African women who impressed at their various clubs abroad, notably in Europe in the past week.

SPAIN

ASISAT OSHOALA (Barcelona)

The reigning Africa Women’s Player of the Year recently completed a contract extension that will keep her with the Catalans until June 30, 2024, and proved a huge bargain since her arrival in January 2019, scoring 80 goals in 101 games.

With just three off her 10-week on the sideline, the 27-year-old will hope to recover in time to keep alive her pursuit for the golden boot and the Uefa Women’s Champions League crown.

SWEDEN

ANAM IMO (Pitea)

The Nigerian striker regained her goalscoring boots with her first professional hat trick as Pitea thrashed Mallbacken 5-0 in the Svenska Cupen Women game. Despite her contribution, the 21-year-old’s goals were not enough to send her Swedish side through to the semi-finals of the competition, having finished third and behind Djurgardens and leaders Eskilstuna United.

SWITZERLAND

JADE BOHO [Servette]

The Equatorial Guinea international made an impactful presence for her Swiss outfit as she was on target in Servette’s 2-1 win over Aarau. With a 1-1 at the hour mark, the 35-year-old Spanish born forward netted her fifth goal of the season and her side’s winner in the 73rd minute to keep their title defence alive.

RUSSIA

Francisca Ordega [CSKA Moscow]

The 2018 African Women’s Player of the Year finalist made a promising start to the season as she opened the scoring in CSKA Moscow’s 2-0 win over Yenisey. Ordega only needed just six minutes to open her goal account for the new season on the 100th appearance of Cameroonian teammate Aboudi Omguene.

POLAND

ERNESTINA ABAMBILA (UKS SMS Lodz)

The 23-year-old midfielder powered Lodz to the top of the Polish Ekstraliga table with her goal and assist in a 6-0 victory over Tarnovia. After 3-0 up, the Ghana international scored in the 71st minute to extend the hosts’ lead and the win was enough to displace Gornik Leczna at the summit on goal difference.

MACLEANS CHINONYEREM (Gornik Leczna)

The uncapped Nigeria striker extended her lead as the top scorer in the Polish topflight with the matchwinner in Gornik Leczna’s 1-0 win against Gdansk. Her 39th minute strike was all Gornik required to maintain their title pursuit as she also took her goal-tally to 14 in 11 starts this season.

BELARUS

CISSE, RAMALEPE, DABDA, NDZANA (Dinamo Minsk)

Cote d’Ivoire’s Nadege Cisse, South Africa’s Lebogang Ramalepe and Cameroon duo of Claudia Dabda and Colette Ndzana were in action as Dinamo Minsk won the Belarusian Women’s Super Cup match with a 2-1 win over rivals Minsk. The African quartet featured for the entire duration of the match and did enough to ensure Dinamo came out victorious in the 2022 season curtain-raiser.
