Ghanaian Boxer Richard Commey has been talked about all over Ghana after his fight against Vasily Lomachenko which resulted in a lose for the Ghanaian but ensured his purse got swollen.
Right after returning to Ghana, Richard Commey quizzed why his long ban was lifted when his previous appeal was denied?. Fighting Loma gave Commey a chance at a world title shot but would have to climb another long hurdle.
Rumoured to have cashed in over USD 700,000 from his fight against Loma, Richard Commey who has been known to say it as it is asked the GBA if the removed his previous ban because they were expecting money from his fight among other questions which remains unanswered.
Today on the 17th of January 2022, the Ghana Boxing Authority in a lengthy letter have stated their withdraw of all courtesies from Richard Commey as well serving his an indefinite ban.
Paragraph three of the letter reads,
“In your case, you were seen in a viral video interview where you insulted and attacked the integrity of all GBA board members and maligned the activities of the Ghana Boxing Authority including the upcoming Ghana Professional Boxing League and maliciously attacked the integrity of GBA President without any provocation.
You said among other unprintable statements in the said interview that, you are not fighting under the flag of Ghana and for that matter you are not under the GBA as the mandatory Professional Boxing Authority in Ghana.
The GBA deems your acts as serious misconduct and disrespect and therefore suspends you indefinitely and withdraw all required courtesies put on you as a Ghanaian professional boxer and a former world champion.”
Richard Commey who has remained resolute that he will never give the GBA any money from his fights has been touted as disrespectful and has always been in the bad books of the GBA but has urged for calm as he will not back down from doing what he sees right.
