Cameroon will be proud to have produced one of the best African footballers the world will always remember. Samuel Eto’o Fils born 10 March 1981 is a Cameroonian retired professional footballer who played as a striker. In his prime, Eto’o was regarded by pundits as one of the best strikers in the world, and he is regarded as one of the greatest African players of all time, winning the African Player of the Year a record four times: in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2010.
The football icon who has declared his intention to contend for the Cameroon Football Associations presidency after he got his candidature validated was present at the Web Summit Innovations awards.
Samuel Eto’o Fils Foundation received the Web Summit Innovation Sport Award and it was presented by none other than the ever mentioned Fabrizio Romano.
Samuel Eto’o after receiving the award said, “I am beyond grateful to be the recipient of the Web Summit Innovation in Sport Award presented by Fabrizio Romano for the work we do with the Samuel Eto’o Foundation.
Thank you to everyone at Web Summit for this honour. We have come a long way since founding this foundation in 2006, I hope to continue to change the lives of young people in Cameroon and across Africa”.
Many people have lauded the Cameroonian football icon to keep pushing for the CFA presidency as they believe he can turn things around with his achievements in football and its administration and that the name he has made while plying his international trade will play a major factor in getting things together when eventually voted as the president of the CFA.
