The Sports Writers’ Associations of Ghana (SWAG) is the most prestigious sports journalist governing body in Ghana and making strides in ensuring Ghanaian sports journalists are respected and protected while undertaking their duties.
On the 30th of September 2024, the leadership of the Sports Writers’ Association of Ghana (SWAG) made public the opening of nominations for the 49th SWAG awards.
As a member of this prestigious association (SWAGGER) it is equally my responsibility to to inform all sports journalists out there to join family for the best in growth and opportunities when it comes to mentorship and other workshops that help build our capacities in executing our job.
Portions of the media release reads,
“The SWAG Awards honor outstanding athletes, coaches, and sport administrators who have excelled in their respective disciplines, promoting promoting sports development and excellence in Ghana.
Nominations are open to Ghanaian athletes, coaches, and sports administrators who have achieved remarkable success in the year under review (January 1, 2024 – November 30, 2024.)”.

As a member of this body why would I not be happy, it is more exciting when you attend the awards and realize your colleges help you to want to achieve more.
The important notice on the letter reads
“Please note that nominations from National Federations or organizations should be on their letterhead, signed and stamped by the President of Secretary of the NF or organization while SWAG members in good standing are eligible to nominate persons for awards.
Nominations close on October 28, 2024
NB: Kindly take note that nominations do not guarantee a win as all nominations would be vetted by the 49th SWAG Awards Nomination Committee.”
Am many of you are already aware, nominations for any awards go through series of scrutiny and vetting while persons shortlisted are voted for to select a winner.

He has been renowned for his support of disabled sports persons and championing for equal rights and opportunities for all sports persons. He is also a father of 4 children and married to His partner Moana who is of Australian descent.
